Visit the Liberty Memorial

Located at the National World War I Museum, the Liberty Memorial is a renowned part of the KCMO skyline. In the heart of downtown, the Liberty Memorial Tower is “in honor of those who served in the world war in defense of liberty and our country.” Open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., it’s the number one attraction in Kansas City according to Trip Advisor, and it’s the fifth best museum in the country as ranked by Yelp.

Go to the top of the tower and check out the views from the observation deck, hovering 217 feet above the city. You can take the elevator, or enjoy a workout with the 45 step climb. The open-air deck offers the best views of the city and is a must for anyone visiting KCMO. Strollers are allowed, and access to the tower is included with museum admission.

A Full Day of Fun

Meeting spaces and event rentals are available for groups. The museum is the ideal location for special events from fundraisers to weddings or as a space for business travelers and conferences. Free audio tours are available, or customized private tours can be arranged for groups of 15 or more.

At the Over There Café, gourmet fare and quick snacks are available to keep the energy levels high. As you explore the research center, artifacts from the world war, and discover personal narratives of the war time, you’ll enjoy a rare glimpse into the past in one of the country’s most revered museums. Plan to spend an entire day at the museum if you want to take it all in!
