Visit the Beautiful and Historic Loose Park
Jacob L. Loose Park is one of Kansas City’s most popular, not to mention beautiful, parks. This sprawling 75 acre park is popular among many for weddings but in addition to its beautiful surroundings, it is filled with history. Once a major site for the Battle of Westport during the Civil War you can catch up on your history and see monuments marking the historical events throughout the Park. Be sure to check out the Civil War Cannon and the Battle of Westport Grand Army of the Republic Monument.
History is not all that this park features. A great place to walk your dog, take a run and enjoy the gorgeous Rose Garden, this park has many activities for everyone. Tennis courts, beautiful water fountains, picnic areas and a water park are just a few of the attractions that draw many to enjoy the great outdoors here each spring and summer.
Each year, the Park features various events, concerts and other performances. Taking place mostly in the Rose Garden, you can attend the annual Rose Show in June and in September check out Jazz in the Roses and Wine & Roses. Keep up to date on the upcoming events on the park’s website.
