St. Paddy’s Day KCMO-Style

2017 Update

This year, St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Friday, which means the green-centric parties are going to be bigger and better than ever. The annual Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day Parade is always popular, starting at 11 a.m. at Linwood and Broadway, then heading to 43rd along Broadway. The after party is full of all the Irish grub, pints and partying you can imagine with authentic dancers, music and vendors.

Local, smaller parades and festivals throughout St. Paddy’s weekend include the Snake Saturday Parade and Festival complete with a children’s theater, Emerald Isle Parade with an Irish breakfast, Brookside’s St. Patrick’s Day warmup parade with over 100 organizations, and the “Shortest and Smallest” Parade in downtown Blue Springs.

Irish Pubs Galore

KCMO has an impressive list of Irish pubs, each with their own traditions, green beer recipes, and genuine Irish cuisine. Try The Dubliner for craft beer and bar bites, as well as one of the wildest parties in town during late night hours. McCoy’s Public House is known for their mac ‘n’ cheese (and for being open ‘til 3 a.m.).

At McFadden’s in the Power and Light District, the tavern is kitted out with dark wood and a festive party. From Governor Stumpy’s Grill House to O’Dowd’s Little Dublin, hopping from one pub to another is the perfect way to spend St. Paddy’s in KCMO.
