Salvaged Art Competition at Ruins Pub
On the second Thursday of every month, head to Ruins Pub at 1715 Main Street for their Ruin’d Art Battles. The fun starts at 7 p.m. with a monthly salvaged art competition.
Local and visiting artists compete for cash, but there’s a catch. You never know what the canvas will be until you arrive. In the past, street signs and old tires have been used.
The pub finds a variety of old materials around town, perfect for becoming the next masterpiece canvas. Up to four artists compete each time to get 30 percent of the bar’s proceeds for the night. The crowd decides the winner. (If you’re an artist, contact [email protected] to ask about competing!)
Learn from the Masters
Ruins Pub is the only self-pour bar in KCMO with over 50 beers on tap. There’s never any waiting for a bartender or for service. If it’s beer you want, simply sidle up to the bar and pour a cold one yourself. There’s also an impressive bar menu that will keep you energized throughout the night.
Try a craft cocktail or one of the 136 menu items. Whether you want street tacos, a burger, apps for the whole table or something else, there’s a good chance Ruins has it. Traditional Hungarian dishes are their specialty.
Just be forewarned—you’ll be “ruin’d” for all other bars once you check this place out.
