Kid-Friendly Holidays In Kansas City

The Christmas Carol

View this post on Instagram

It’s a little spooky and a lot of fun. It’s A CHRISTMAS CAROL at KCRep, and we want to share it with everyone in Kansas city! Will you help? When you make a gift to KCRep by Dec 31, your contribution will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, by our friends at @hrblock. This month, more than 4,000 children will join Ebenezer #Scrooge and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future on their magical journey – and that’s thanks to you! As little as $10 covers the cost for one child to attend a student matinee at KCRep. It’s because of PAST donors like you that we’re able to PRESENT world-class performances and ensure the FUTURE of theatre in Kansas City for #theatre lovers of every age. Thank you! Every kid loves hearing the story of Ebeneezer Scrooge and how he learns to love Christmas – now’s your chance to see it live!  The KC Reperatory Theatre will be performing the play this month with multiple days and times available so that you can be sure to attend a performance.  It’s a great reminder of the reason behind the season, and a way to inspire goodwill towards your fellow man.

Winterfest

Worlds of Fun Theme Park is hosting their annual Winterfest event with holiday-themed live performances, special holiday food and treats, and fun activities to get you in the spirit.  Kids will love decorating cookies to take home, and they can learn to ice skate on the specially set-up rink.  Various vendors will be set up so you can do a bit of Christmas shopping in between rides and fun, and if you need a break, stop by one of Jack Frost’s Igloos for a lovely and warm place to sit while you rest your feet.

Christmas at the Crown Center

The Crown Center is more than just a place to shop, although that is certainly a bonus if you still need to pick up some gifts.  For the holiday season, numerous themed activities are set up, from various choir performances, live theatre shows including A Charlie Brown Christmas and their Spectacular Christmas Show, and a gingerbread village for kids to explore, before they take their picture with Santa.  Even the aquarium embraces the holiday spirit, with stunning lights overhead as you wander through, viewing the marine life.

Enjoy the holidays with these family-friendly activities while you’re in Kansas City!
