Kansas City Labor Day Events

Whether you live here, or are planning to visit Kansas City, there is so much to do right in town for Labor Day weekend. With events like free concerts, entertaining Broadway performances and of course, Kansas City’s own American League baseball, you just can’t go wrong here for the holiday weekend. If you’re looking for Kansas City events over Labor Day, check out the following examples of just what this city has in store for you.

Free Concert

If you’re into the symphony, there will be a free concert over on Monday September 3, 2012. The Kansas City Symphony presents Pops in the Park, at the Theater in the Park at Shawnee Mission Park. The world-class symphony orchestra will perform all American hits, including “The Stars and Stripes Forever”. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for this fabulous outdoor concert. The gates open at 5:30pm, so get there early for an entertaining pre-show by the Symphony Youth Orchestra. Shawnee Mission Park is located at 7710 Renner Road just outside of Kansas City in Shawnee, Kansas.

Broadway Shows

The Starlight Theater in Kansas City brings you fantastic Broadway performances each year and this year is no exception. You can catch the last show of the Broadway season at this venue when you see La Cage Aux Folles on September 2, 2012. The show stars famed actor George Hamilton and is the story about two very different families and their journey to blend and come together as one family. The Starlight Theater is located at 4600 Starlight Road, Kansas City, MO 64132. This venue has been hosting the top Kansas City events including concerts, Broadway shows and more, since the 1950s. Baseball

BaseballOn Sunday September 2, 2012, the Kansas City Royals will host the Minnesota Twins. If you’re a baseball fan, this is the place to be over Labor Day Weekend. The game takes place at the Royal’s home Kauffman Stadium in downtown Kansas City. In addition to the game, other exciting Kansas City events at Kauffman that day include Family FunDay Sunday, presented by Radio Disney. Bring the kids out for the face painters, caricatures and balloon artists, and more. In addition, that day is the Sprint Fun Run when fans get to run the bases after the game. These unique Kansas City events are sure to be a hit with the whole family.
