Great Spots to Watch the Big 12 Tournament in KC

The Big 12 Basketball Tournament returns to Kansas City in 2012 to the delight of both Kansas City sports fans and college basketball fans throughout the Midwest and beyond.  The tournament will be held big_12_kcMarch 7th-10th at the Sprint Center.

While a few will be lucky enough to watch the tourney games live– tickets are difficult to come by and besides, there are great places to watch the games throughout the Kansas City metro area.

Where to Watch:

The Power and Light District, located directly across from the Sprint Center, is considered to be fan central and will be packed with tournament goers and fans alike.  They also host the Big 12 Fan Festival, an interactive experience with attractions and events for all.  The Power and Light District is also home to two great sports bars–Johnny’s Tavern (a KU fan bar) and McFadden’s Sports Saloon where you’ll find drink specials and more flat screen TV’s than you can handle. The P&L’s outdoor LIVE! area will also be a great place to watch on the KC’s biggest screen.

810 Sports Zone will have Big 12 fans camped out from around the country  at both their Country Club Plaza and Leawood locations.  Expect more TV’s per square inch than any other sports bar in the city.  Granfalloon and Tom Fooleries (upstairs) are also great places to watch the big games on the Plaza.

Willies, a Columbia original, you can expect wall to wall fans of the black and gold. Located directly south of the Sprint Center, their World Famous Chicken Wings are considered to be some of the best in town.

Lew’s, Brooksider and Charlie Hooper’s are also great options if you are looking great sports bars just south of the Plaza in the Brookside or Waldo area.

Where’s your favorite Kansas City sports spot to watch the Big 12 Tourney?
