When you think tastings, wine and craft beer often come to mind. However, KCMO has an impressive offering of cheese tastings (although many of them are paired with wine!). Check out the gooey flights at Green Dirt Farm Creamery. Located nearby at 1099 Welt Street in Weston, the dairy farm offers a three- or six-cheese tasting of sheep’s milk. If you’ve never tried it before, you’re in for a real treat.
You’ll also want to take the quaint farm tour and learn more about the dirt-to-table movement. The well-grazed flocks dine on the healthiest of pastures for happy sheep—and delicious milk products. You’ll want to try the spreadable cheeses in the lactic-style, washed rind cheeses, and blended or bloomy varieties. The spicy chili and garlic peppercorn are especially popular.

The Better Cheddar is your local hub for all things cheese since 1983. Located at 604 W. 48th in KCMO, they offer American, Dutch, English, Spanish, Italian and French cheeses. Classes take place year round, so check the calendar and choose the cheesiest event during your stay. They also have a full menu, featuring cheese as the star. Try out the Praline Smoked Ham Sandwich with gruyère and a praline mustard aioli.
The Osceola Cheese Company at 3700 MO-13 in nearby Osceola has a variety of products, but are famous for their Amish-style cheese. Take a nibble of their Applewood smoked varieties, cheese spreads, longhorn, low-fat, hickory-smoked and specialties.
