Father’s Day in Kansas City

UPDATED 2017

Take the dad in your life to a brunch he’ll never forget. The Brick features $1 Bloody Mary’s (with house pepper vodka if you want to up the heat) along with a famous biscuits and gravy bar where you’ll get scratch biscuits with classic creamy gravy or spicy chorizo. Try the shrimp and grits or the chicken and waffles. Staple eggs and bacon are always spot on. It’s a low-key destination for the casual dad.

The Farmhouse is known for partnering with Missouri and Kansas farms for true fresh, farm-to-table brunches. Local eggs, bacon made in house, and the biggest biscuits in town are found here. Everything is sustainable and seasonal, so you never know what to expect. However, it all pairs wonderfully with their rustic brick décor.

Just for Dad

Beer Kitchen is a dad favorite, beloved for their strong hair-of-the-dog morning drinks. Southern brunch picks go with great playlists. Try the Cajun Mary before digging into the hand-cut sweet potato fries, chicken and waffle monsters or the tantalizing brunch enchiladas.

Voltaire is a favorite for those in the industry (and for those keeping track of the best brunches in town). The eggs benedict with house-smoked trout and a perfectly poached egg is the way to start. Go to the dark, stunning bar and ask the bartender for a mid-day cocktail crafted just for you. Book your table early, you don’t want to miss out on Dad’s favorite hot spot!

Treat Dad to a day out he’ll remember in KCMO, starting with brunch or dinner at Affäre, where you can sit on the patio and enjoy a craft beer or high-end bourbon to kick off the festivities. This locally owned European restaurant partners with nearby vineyards and farmers for a truly KCMO experience, with cocktails from small batches and specials designed around seasonal ingredients.

The Reserve restaurant at Ambassador Hotel offers an incredible audience, complete with soaring ceilings and marble walls that perfectly complement the menu. Try out the gourmet breakfast with whiskey cured salmon scrambles and egg frittata. Father’s Day brunch offers gourmet Irish scones and salmon benedict with crab cakes.

Dad’s Special Day

The Farmhouse is a favorite for their “tip to tail” home-style appeal, including lunch, brunch, happy hour and dinner menus. Try the chicken fried catfish, lamb meatballs, smoked chicken and dumplings, or hanger steak, aged one full year. The sweet potato gnocchi, fried mushrooms and famous tomato soup are also on the menu.

At RA Sushi Bar Restaurant, Dad will be treated to the Tokyo Bloody Mary at brunch, arabiki sliders and the smoked salmon roll. Reserve a table for dinner, and don’t miss the rockin’ shrimp tacos, sake bombers, and more roll options than you can possible tackle in one night.
