The Ewing and Muriel Kauffman Memorial Garden

This oasis is nestled on two acres as part of the Kauffman Legacy Park in the middle of Kansas City. Powell Gardens partners with the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to offer this beautifully landscaped reprise from the bustle of the city. Tranquil and serene, it’s encased in limestone walls and features brick paths with numerous benches.

The entrance is hugged by Peking Tree lilacs offering welcome shade during the hot Missouri summers. Endless Summer Hydrangeas and a variety of seasonal flowers are in full bloom in July, offering a romantic date or perfect family outing for visitors.

Go Green

In the Green Garden, the octagonal pool is highlighted with “water jumps,” and is bordered with a pergola covered in planter boxes. Enjoy the flowing seasonal flowers including Mrs. Kauffman’s favorite, the gardenia. The “Orangery” features seasonal fragrant plants and palm trees.

In the Parterre Canal Garden, visitors enjoy a lengthy pool seasoned with artist Tom Corbin’s bronze figurines. Find the Secret Garden for jumping fountains and water accents. Admission is free and the park is open from 8 a.m. to dusk at 4800 Rockhill Road, KCMO.
