Kansas City Zoo

Who doesn’t love going to the zoo?  It’s fun to see the animals, and you can learn some really interesting facts from all around the globe.  Kansas City Zoo has 202 acres of land for you to walk, with hundreds of animals, and numerous interactive activities.  Take a boat through the savannah, feed the stingrays, and definitely don’t miss zookeeper chats, where they share information and you can ask questions about the animals.

Lakeside Nature Center

Lakeside Nature Center is a wildlife rehabilitation program that allows people to visit and learn more about the animals in the Kansas City area.  In addition to the numerous events they host, like breakfast with the animals or nighttime viewing gatherings, you have the freedom to walk their trails and visit the center to see the animals they are currently rehabbing.  Don’t forget to visit Wilma, a 68 year old box turtle and the oldest resident of the Center.

Wonderscope Children’s Museum

5700 King St, Shawnee, MO 66203

Wonderscape is an amazing museum with fun, interactive exhibits covering a variety of topics.  Learn about life on a farm, veterinary medicine, or chess – there’s activities for all ages and all interests.  They also host special events periodically, centered on a certain theme, that are sure to encourage your child’s creativity.  Plan on spending the whole day at Wonderscape – there’s too much to do to leave early!

Paradise Park

1021 NE Colbern Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086
Website

Paradise Park has just about every type of entertainment you can think of!  From laser tag to go-karts, miniature golf to gem mining, even escape rooms, you can spend an entire weekend here playing as a family.  Remember to refuel at meal times – the on-site cafe offers sandwiches and pizza, and parents can even indulge in a little beer or wine.  This is a great way to relax and work off some energy, so remember to block off time for pure, unadulterated fun!

LegoLand

LegoLand is great for pure, continuous playtime.  See the amazing creations others have made, and watch your kids build their own designs.  No matter how ambitious the imagination, there are enough blocks at LegoLand to build anything you can come up with.  There’s also rides to enjoy, characters to meet, and events to visit!  Get a combo ticket so you can also visit…

Sea Life Aquarium

2475 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108
Website

There are so many amazing animals in the Earth’s oceans, we haven’t even identified them all, but you can view some really interesting ones at Sea Life.  Stingrays, octopi, sharks, and clownfish – you can see them all.  Visit the petting tank to feel the rubbery skin of rays, and go to the Doodle Reef to draw your own sea creatures and watch them swim.  You can also visit the new Turtle Rescue Center, where they rehabilitate and offer permanent homes to endangered turtles that can no longer survive in the ocean.  It’s a great activity, and the perfect way to spend a rainy day.

Kansas City is so kid-friendly, you’ll never run out of things to do!
